A Validity Study on the Thought Disorder Index(TDI)

Abstract
Thought Disorder Index of Johnston and Holzman was applied to normal, neurotic and psychotic samples of 32 each. No significant difference was found between normal and neurotic groups but very significant difference was found between these two groups and psychotic patients on almost all levels of thought disorders.
In particular, normals were also found to have some kinds of thought disorders such as tendency to confabulation, incongruous combination and inappropriate distance to the same level of patient groups.
Utility of TDI as a tool for differential diagnosis with psychiatric: patients and some problems in regard to scoring of Rorschach responses were discussed.
